Iowa's Dubuque County taps SDI for courthouse security systems.
Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI) will be supplying the courthouse in Dubuque County, Iowa, with a new security screening system and support services, the company announced on Oct. 14.

“SDI prides itself on bringing our advanced technology to the field to help secure public services and human life,” SDI President Terry Gibson said. “We work with partners like Dubuque every day to give them the best we have to offer in customized solutions that fit their needs. We make ourselves available from the start of the procurement process, and offer reliable service throughout the life of the machine.”

The courthouse required both X-ray inspection and metal detection capabilities alongside other services. The company will be supplying the HI-SCAN unit, which features highly advanced image processing and measures that allow for increased checkpoint efficiency. The company’s technical team will also be supplying support through the lifespan of the machine, this is a factor that the company states was crucial for county authorities.

“The Sheriff's Department recommendation of Smiths Detection was based on the superior technology, clearer image, the guarantee of maintenance service within 36 hours and the extended warranty options,” Dubuque County Sheriff's Department Deputy Shane Bockenstedt said.

SDI specializes in the design and manufacture of detection systems against multiple threats and contraband.
