FEMA announces open positions
Insurance examiner positions are located in the Washington, D.C. office. This position is tasked with the review and resolution of any issues relating to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIB) and the Write-Your Own Program (WYO), and provides oversight and guidance to staff in this area.
This position is expected to act a liaison to NFIB contractors, mortgage lenders, adjusters and insurance agents in cases where clarification is needed relating to flood coverage, specifically when this information is required by FEMA underwriting or the agency's claims and appeals branch.
For this position, candidates will need up to a master's level of education in an area relating to insurance, business administration, real estate operations or a related field. Candidates should have experience specializing in insurance coverage determination or a specialized area of insurance including marine- and casualty-related insurance operations.

The financial management specialist position will be based at the Boston office. This position is tasked with fund control activities that range in scope, and can include budgeting and financial management for the agency's disaster-related operations and analyzing cost data for long-term recovery programs.
For this position, candidates will need at least one year of experience in a government setting, nonprofit or private-sector company working with fund monitoring and availability reporting and allocations. Candidates who have received a doctorate or equivalent level of education are also qualified.
