Morpho Detection's partner in Portugal has been awarded a contract with the Vinci/ANA Aeroportos de Portugal, an airports operator, to supply 74 Morpho Itemiser 4DX explosive trace detectors (ETD), the company announced Thursday.

The 4DX ETDs from Morpho Detection utilize non-radioactive measures to detect for suspicious substances that can be determined on skin, luggage and on clothing. The system has been approved by the European Civil Aviation Conference's member states for use with cargo and passenger flights and is currently used in airports throughout Europe.
"Growing airport operators like Vinci/ANA Aeroportos de Portugal depend on stability and reliable detection solutions to quickly screen passengers and Morpho is thrilled they have selected Itemiser 4DX," Karen Bomba, president and CEO of Morpho Detection, said. "The detection capabilities of Itemiser 4DX, combined with rapid response and maintenance services provided by local partners including MicroSegur in Portugal, has created an unmatched, end-to-end industry solution."

This contract came about following competitive testing to ensure that the ETDs met new European Union legislative standards. The company states that approximately 23,000 Morpho systems have been utilized in airports, law enforcement agencies, air cargo facilities and other areas requiring enhanced security on a global scale.

Morpho Detection specializes in the development and supply of threat detection systems for military, government, first response and transportation applications.
