Securonix, Cloudera to partner in providing behavior-based threat detection

Securonix has formed a partnership with Cloudera Connect to provide a threat detection program that is based around user behavior, the company announced Thursday.

"Organizations are realizing the promise of big data for security is not just in the amount of data collected but what you can get out of the data without hiring an army of security specialists with the knowledge of predicting the future," Securonix CEO Sachin Nayyar said. "The Securonix-Cloudera solution delivers on this promise by detecting the most complex, unknown and dangerous internal and external threats using the power of big data and purpose built security analytics."

The Security Analytics system from Securonix uses machine-based anomaly detection that studies the behavior of a system and its users for any unusual activity. The company says many monitoring techniques available today are focused on the collection of data, compliance reporting and retention at perimeters rather than analyzing events as they occur.

"Enterprise security teams are looking for new and innovative ways and capabilities to uncover and combat cyber-security threats," Tim Stevens, vice president of business and corporate development at Cloudera, said. "Securonix's ability to rely on the flexibility and scale of Cloudera Enterprise for data collection and analytics puts actionable intelligence into the hands of security analysts enabling them to be more productive and effective in identifying advance threat patterns."
