Copenhagen Airport to deploy Morpho Detection screening system

Morpho (Safran) said Wednesday its subsidiary Morpho Detection has reached a contract with the Copenhagen Airport to supply 30 desktop explosives trace detectors (ETD).

The company will be supplying its Itemiser 4DX system, a mobile system that eliminates the administrative storage, shipping and regulatory needs associated with other forms of detection technology that utilize radiation tracing methods.

"Morpho Detection is thrilled Copenhagen Airport selected Itemiser 4DX for their first deployment of ETD technology," Morpho Detection President and CEO Karen Bomba said. "The field-proven detection capabilities and reliability of the Itemiser platform, combined with Morpho's global service footprint and rapid response capabilities, has created an unmatched, end-to-end industry solution."

The Itemiser system is currently approved for use by the European Civil Aviation Conference in both passenger and cargo aviation applications across the conference's 44 member states. The system is capable of detecting trace amounts of material associated with explosives.

Approximately 800 4DX systems are currently in use in European airports and approximately 23,000 ETD systems are deployed in transportation, first response, law enforcement and other high-risk facilities.

Morpho Detection specializes in the development and manufacture of detection systems for use against narcotics, explosives, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear material among other items.
