ARC seeks senior disaster program manager

The American Red Cross (ARC) has an opening for a senior disaster program manager at their Grand Rapids, Michigan, office, according to a job posting put online Wednesday.

This position will take on a leadership and management role of Local Disaster Program managers and will oversee the implementation of disaster preparedness, recovery and response programs. This person will also
assist in the development of Disaster Leadership Volunteers for each program area.

This person will be expected to act as a leading facilitator across the disaster cycle and will take an active part in the hiring, training and counseling of volunteers and other personnel. This position will also take part in mobilization activity with regard to the local community in order to operate during an emergency or disaster situation. This person may be asked to take on a 24-hour on-call schedule during an emergency or disaster.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and have five to seven years of professional working experience in a social services or program delivery setting. Work experience should also involve leadership roles within a department or program. This position will also require a minimum of three years of managerial experience.

Upon employment candidates will be expected to develop proficiency and knowledge of ARC procedures, volunteer and financial management, emergency management practices and other areas.
