Sierra Leone Ebola case update released
They report that over the course of the outbreak there have been a total of 8,695 confirmed cases of the Ebola virus disease (EVD) with Port Loco and Bombali having the highest case amounts with 1,484 and 1,049, respectively. They also report that there have been 3,585 deaths from EVD since the beginning of the outbreak.
The report indicates that 4,043 cases are counted as survived and discharged. They also report that between Aug. 2 and Aug. 5 there have not been any confirmed cases.
The Ebola outbreak has also heavily impacted Guinea and Liberia alongside Sierra Leone. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) report that as of Tuesday, there have been 15,213 confirmed cases of EVD and a total of 11,296 deaths associated with the disease in total.
Probable and suspected cases are reported at 27,898 cases across the three countries.
According to the WHO, Sierra Leone has seen the largest amount of cases and probable cases, but Liberia has seen the largest death toll of the three most heavily impacted countries.
