American Red Cross seeks disaster program manager

The American Red Cross (ARC) announced an opening for a disaster program manager at the Camarillo, California, office in a recent job listing.

This position is responsible for implementing disaster services in regionally configured geographic locations. This person will be expected to work as a part of the Disaster Management Cycle process and will prepare response and recovery management activity at the local level. This position will also be charged with ensuring that Disaster Leadership Volunteers are effectively supporting functions of response and recovery in the case of a disaster situation.

This position will also be interacting with outside forces, including community, city and state leaders and officials.

Candidates are required to hold a bachelor's and have at least five years of experience working in an area related to social services or program delivery. Supervisory or managerial experience is preferred. Applicants should provide evidence of proficiencies relating to the ARC, its services, communication in verbal and written forms, analytical skills and utilizing data to make informed decisions.

As a full-time disaster employee, candidates can expect to be deployed in a disaster situation with little warning with an on-call schedule for all hours. Applicants should also demonstrate proficiency with budgeting, planning and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
