Northern Virginia Emergency Response System seeks program director
The program director manages NVERS staff and performs time accounting and performance evaluations. This position is also expected to work with members of the local and regional government in order to facilitate participation. The program director will oversee strategic plans, cases and operational guidelines relating to NVERS.
This position will also take part in the National Capital Region Homeland Security Grant application process in order to secure funding needed for continued operation and will also take part in aspects of financial management.
Candidates for this position should hold a bachelor's degree in an area relating to the position. Higher degrees or coursework is preferred. Candidates should also have at least 10 years of working experience with public health, emergency management or public safety with progressive management experience.
Applicants should have a thorough understanding of emergency management and response in the region, specifically procedures and protocol.
Candidates should be comfortable with public speaking as the chosen person will be expected to give briefings to public officials. Candidates must also be able to acquire a Department of Homeland Security secret clearance and have clean criminal, credit and driving histories.
