Washington Military Dept. seeks temporary emergency program specialist

The Washington Military Department has announced a temporary opening for an Emergency Management Program Specialist 3 in a recent job posting.

This position will be tasked with the development of emergency response plans, integration, implementation of the emergency management program and will last up to seven months. This position will also facilitate meetings and will provide support for organization-wide response plans regarding hazardous materials and overall emergency and disaster response. This person will also work with local, federal and tribal governmental entities to ensure that these plans are fully integrated and that they are supported.

This position requires two years of experience as an Emergency Management Program Specialist 2 or a bachelor's degree and four years of professional work experience in an area related to emergency management, public information and affairs, planning, engineering, legislative affairs and financial management.

The posting also states that a year of experience may be substituted with a graduate or doctoral degree. Additional consideration will be given to candidate that provide evidence of their ability to present information and those that have experience in community relations.

Candidates will undergo a background investigation for employment and approval to use Defense Department computer systems. This position is on a four-day work week with 10-hour workdays Tuesday through Friday. In an emergency situation, this person can expect to be called upon to work in alternate locations on a rotating schedule.
