University of Southern Mississippi seeks National Sports Security Lab director

The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is seeking a director for its National Sports Security Laboratory.

This position oversees operations and provides guidance for the lab's resources, which include a large network of computer and information systems, software security devices, training facilities and network infrastructure. This position will also oversee budgets and project schedules, facilitating and monitoring the evaluation process and preparing post-evaluation data and reports. These reports enable venue operators and other affiliated parties to craft solutions that address research findings.

This person also will be expected to engage solutions providers in case-study participation and decide which vendors can showcase their systems and products.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in a field relating to engineering or in a highly technical field; a master's degree in these fields is preferred. Candidates should possess knowledge of operational protocols in emergency management so that a solid foundation is established when hosting demonstrations and for the construction of scenarios for simulations and other training exercises.

Candidates with experience working with security manufacturers or government agents will be given special preference.
