Scottsdale, Arizona, seeks to hire emergency manager

The City of Scottsdale, Arizona, has an opening for an emergency manager.

This position is responsible for the coordination of emergency-related tasks, including incident management, preparedness, staff and public training, operation drills and the development of continuity plans. This person oversees the Emergency Operations Center and ensures that staff receive the appropriate training. This position mostly operates during a traditional work week, but should expect to be available on an on-call basis at all hours. In emergency situations, this person can be expected to work in the field, with possible exposure to inclement weather, dust, noise and temperature extremes.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration or a related field and will be required to have at least four years of experience in an area relating to emergency preparedness, emergency management or incident management. For this position, two years of relevant working or volunteer experience are equivalent to one year of education.

Candidates also should posses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations associated with emergency-management work. Candidates also should have knowledge of the National Incident Management System and associated command procedures. Candidates should have a working proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
