CDC seeks director of Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is looking to hire a director for its Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response.

The salary for the position, which will be based out of the CDC facility in Atlanta, Ga., is between $120,034 and $201,700 per year.

The director will have broad operating authority in the overall planning, direction and management of the Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response. They will help to provide vision and direction to accomplish the CDC's strategic imperatives.

Specific duties of the position include advising the CDC director and other officials on all activities that affect CDC-wide preparedness and response activities. The director will also plan and coordinate activities to protect life, property and the environment in the event of a natural or man-made event.

The director will also be required to act as a liaison between CDC management and staff, other federal agencies and health care providers at the local, state, national and international levels.

The director will be required to occasionally travel during his or her employment.

Qualifications for the position include a doctorate of medicine or osteopathy from a school in the U.S. or Canada and clear evidence of specialized experience.
