DTRA solicitation for research proposals expires in September
The broad agency announcement (BAA) asks for white papers to address long-term challenges to fundamental areas of research that contribute to the body of knowledge regarding the countering of weapons of mass destruction. The desired research would significantly advance revolutionary technology and new concepts for technology application.
Research proposals may identify, adopt and adapt emerging and existing revolutionary sciences that could demonstrate a high payoff regarding counter-WMD technologies.
Awards under the DTRA solicitation will most likely take the form of grants, although other contracts and transaction agreements may also be proposed. The federal government reserves the right to award any combination of approaches that presents the best value.
There are a total of 15 open windows under the BAA, with approximately three per year. Submissions can be made at any time during those windows.
The DTRA solicitation was originally issued in 2009.
DTRA is the U.S. Department of Defense's combat support arm for the countering of weapons of mass destruction through basic research and development, operational support to U.S. forces and an in-house WMD think thank. The agency was founded in 1998.
