Smiths Detection receives multi-million order from Leidos

Smiths Detection, Inc., a security solutions company, announced on Tuesday that it received a multi-million dollar order from Leidos to provide supplies, parts and services to approximately 400 U.S. airports.

The order is part of a four-year agreement with Leidos, the prime contractor of the Transportation Security Administration's Integrated Logistics Support contract. Under the terms of the agreement, Smiths Detection will provide fully trained field support, as well as supplies and parts, for its X-ray, advanced X-ray and explosives trace detection technology.

The order will contribute to ensuring airport checkpoint screening stays continuously operational.

"We are committed to helping our customers protect travelers across the U.S and around the world," Terry Gibson, the president of Smiths Detection, said. "This contract underlines how we deliver on that commitment to long-term value by ensuring our technology meets the operational needs of our customers."

The new field staff working on the contract with Leidos will attend technical training sessions at Smiths Detection's Edgewood, Md.-based Training and Service Center. Smiths Detection's facility is dedicated to training and support services for customers on the full range of the company's CBRNE detection and X-ray technologies.

Smiths Detection provides solutions to detecting and identifying threats such as CBRNE agents, narcotics, weapons and contraband.
