Leidos signs statement of support for National Guard

Leidos, a national security company, recently announced that it signed a statement of support for the National Guard and Reserve during a ceremony with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Leidos, which has received multiple contracts to provide support for U.S. homeland defense, signed the statement during a ceremony at the company's headquarters in Reston, Va. The joint event was supported by the ESGR and Leidos' Military Veteran Operation Program (Operation MVP).

By signing the statement of support, Leidos pledged to enforce and honor the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA), provide managers the tools they need to effectively manage employees, and support U.S. servicemembers and their families.

"Through Operation MVP, Leidos partners with military transition centers, military associations and veteran organizations in an effort to both identify transitioning veterans for placement and provide job seeking best practices back to the veteran community," John Jumper, the chairman and CEO of Leidos, said. "We are honored to formally acknowledge our support to veteran recruiting, hiring and employment practices with ESGR."

The ESGR, which is an office of the DoD, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value members of the National Guard and Reserve.

"Supportive employers like Leidos are critical to maintaining the readiness and strength of the nation's Guard and Reserve units and allow guardsmen and reservists the opportunity to serve our country more effectively and with greater peace of mind," M. Alex Baird, the principal deputy director of family and employer programs and policy at the DoD, said. "By signing this statement of support, Leidos sends a clear message it stands committed to its military employees and recognizes the integrity, global perspective and proven leadership they bring to the workplace."

Leidos provides the DoD with research, development, testing and support services related to CBRN defense, WMDs, critical infrastructure protection and other focus areas.
