Emergency management specialist sought by HHS
The individual hired for the full-time, permanent position will be required to travel approximately 25 percent of the time on the job.
The regional emergency management specialist will serve as the subject matter expert on matters related to the emergency preparedness and response mission of the HHS's Administration for Children and Families (ACF).
The person hired will manage all elements of the region's emergency preparedness and response system, including development of emergency procedures and plans; provide training to HHS personnel who volunteer to serve on the emergency response deployment team; and assist in the coordination of activities of deployed teams during activations. The regional emergency management specialist will also serve as the liaison responsible for maintaining and facilitating communication related to ACF human services-related response and recovery issues.
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the general schedule-12 level in federal services in the emergency preparedness field. The individuals considered for the position must have experience providing technical assistance and guidance to state or tribal organizations while preparing for disasters.
The competencies required for the position include oral communication, technical assistance and emergency management.
