The American Red Cross is looking for a disaster program manager to work in the Las Cruces, N.M., office, according to a hiring notice posted on Saturday iaem.com.
The position is full time. The person hired will work variable days and hours including evenings, weekends and some travel.
The manager will lead the implementation of the disaster services program, including leading and managing a volunteer team. They will lead disaster preparedness, response and recovery programs within a regional area.
The person hired will assist disaster leadership volunteers within the program to meet the needs of the regional area.
The role requires being part of the Disaster Management Cycle, and the manager will be responsible for local preparation, response and disaster recovery. They will work with local governments to enhance program activity and grant funding, as well as incorporate risk, population, event frequency and regional structure into programs.
Qualified applicants will have a bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in social services or program implementation. They will have demonstrated experience in coordinating staff and volunteers, and staff supervisory experience is a plus.
The person hired will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They will be able to develop plans, budgets, presentations and training modules, as well as possess decision-making skills and have a proven track record of collaboration, problem solving, marketing and partnership management.
