Program specialist sought by FEMA
The full-time, temporary position will require occasional travel on a regular basis and potentially extensive travel in support of emergency operations. Travel may occur with little advance notice and may require relocation to emergency sites with intense physical and mental stress.
The individual hired will be a program specialist within the Recovery Directorate of FEMA's Individual Assistance Division. The program specialist will be responsible for research, analyzing, developing and maintaining procedures and policies related to the delivery of individual assistance programs. Assignments include monitoring and evaluating the implementation of individual assistance programs, researching, coordinating and preparing responses to correspondence and inquiries and developing briefing materials, draft federal register notices and responses to congressional inquiries.
Qualified applicants need a master's or equivalent graduate degree in emergency management, homeland security or public administration or one full year of specialized experience at the general schedule-07 level that demonstrates experience researching, analyzing and evaluating disaster recovery guidance. Applicants may also have a combination of education and experience.
