Lead emergency management specialist sought by U.S. State Department
The full-time job will be located in the Office of Emergency Management in the State Department's Bureau of Administration. The position will have top secret security clearance.
The individual hired for the position will serve as a team lead emergency management specialist in the OEM. The specialist will be involved in the planning, coordinating and implementation of activities to support critical emergency management and preparedness programs.
The person hired will posture, train and equip the OEM's Incident Management Team, perform duties and responsibilities typical of team leader positions and lead team preparation and design of planning strategies. The specialist will ensure the OEM can provide rapid domestic disaster response and recovery capabilities.
Qualified candidates must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the general schedule-14 level. Specialized experience must demonstrate the ability to carry out emergency management policy and operational responsibilities, lead team preparation and design of planning strategies and use current leadership policies, regulations, precedents and practices.
Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to apply concepts and principles related to incident operations, knowledge of oversight pertaining to emergency management operations and procedures, ability to lead during times of crisis and knowledge of emergency management technology.
The State Department Bureau of Administration's Office of Emergency Management provides planning, training and exercises to ensure preparedness to respond to and recover from all domestic hazards affecting the department.
