The second annual Preparedness, Emergency Response and Recovery Consortium and Exposition will be held April 13-16.
The consortium brings healthcare, medical, public health and volunteer emergency management personnel who are involved in disaster recovery and response together to share ideas and best practices. Attendees represent government, public and private organizations and agencies.
Workshops during the consortium will provide a hands-on, adult learning environment to focus on coordination and collaboration between organizations and stakeholders regarding disaster preparedness, healthcare response, rescue and evacuation, sheltering in place and recovery operations.
Lectures during the main event will cover integrating citizen volunteers into response plans, evacuation preparedness modeling, preparing for weather-related incidents, decontamination methods, mobile vaccination teams, foreign medical teams and terrorism.
PERRC organizers said their vision is to facilitate educational opportunities and create a well-trained alliance of emergency support responders to provide service to their communities, states, tribes and the nation.
The event will be held at the Caribe Royale All-Suite Hotel and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., and is sponsored by the Chesapeake Health Education Program, Inc.
