Emergency planning manager sought by Vancouver OEM

The city of Vancouver's Office of Emergency Management is seeking an emergency planning manager in Vancouver, British Columbia, according to a hiring notice posted on Saturday on iaem.com.

The full-time position will be one of two senior professional management positions in the OEM and will report to the director of emergency management.

The person hired will join a team of eight full-time staff members responsible for the city of Vancouver's emergency management program. The team has multiple responsibilities, including emergency planning, training and exercise, public education, maintaining the city's Emergency Operations Centre and emergency social services.

The manager will lead the development, implementation and management of multiple emergency management programs for the city of Vancouver and a number of strategic emergency planning portfolios. They will collaborate with other senior managers to organize emergency response and recovery plans and develop exercise and training programs. The person hired will work to create, maintain and enhance the city's emergency plan, ensure work plans are in place to meet emergency management goals and manage staff in the OEM.

Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to work collaboratively with senior managers and staff members across the OEM.

The OEM expects to close the position on April 11.
