Anne Arundel County, Md., looks for new emergency operations director
The position is full-time and will report to the fire chief and county executive.
The director will be responsible for the county's emergency preparedness, response and recovery programs for natural and man-made disasters, as well as terrorism related emergencies. They will develop emergency response plans, conduct training and make sure the county is ready to respond to disasters and consequences of disasters.
During an emergency, the director will be a principal advisor to the county executive, fire and police chiefs, and county officials. They will maintain contact and relations with local jurisdictions, federal and state agencies, diverse groups and resources in order to provide assistance during emergencies.
The person hired will be required to work outside normal working hours during an emergency.
The director will develop and maintain the emergency management program budget, and supervise documentation and submission of federal grants. They will ensure matching fund requirements are met and reimbursements are received.
The role requires creating and reviewing reports and evaluations of emergency preparedness on a regular basis.
Qualified applicants will have a thorough knowledge of emergency management techniques, business management, emergency response organizations and federal and state emergency management plans.
