New Jersey county conducts preparedness drill
The department held the drill on February 20 at the Rt. 12 County Complex in Flemington. During the drill, county staff members practiced the logistics of receiving a large quantity of medication, repackaged and labeled materials and distributed medication to division managers. Over a four-hour period, the county successfully distributed more than 1,477 bottles of medication, Nj.com reports.
"The county of Hunterdon wants to make sure our employees and family members are protected, so that our employees in turn can better serve and protect our residents in an emergency," George Wagner, the director of the Department of Public Safety, said, according to Nj.com.
The Hunterdon County Health Division maintains a fixed facility plan to provide medications for large county businesses, county employees and the families of county employees. While the division maintains a first responder plan to provide medication to emergency medical services, police, fire and other first responders, the fixed facility plan is meant to provide medication to county schools and businesses.
Facilities enrolled in the fixed facility plan are eligible to receive medication for their staff and family members first, before medication is provided to the general public at community clinics, Nj.com reports.
