MIEMSS seeks logistics coordinator for Prince Georges County

The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems is looking for a logistics coordinator for the Prince George's County Emergency Response System, according to a hiring notice posted on Tuesday.

The position will report to Prince George's County ERS project manager and may require occasional travel to Washington and Montgomery County.

The logistics coordinator will coordinate all aspects of management, procurement and inventory of equipment and supplies for the ERS, interface with all Prince George's agencies, healthcare coalitions, state agencies and hospitals and maintain situational awareness of ERS programs to respond quickly to an ever-changing emergency preparedness mission.

Qualified applicants will have obtained a bachelor's degree or greater in emergency management, government or a related field, a minimum of two years of experience in a related field and/or a combination of relevant experience and education. Ideal candidates will have experience as a first responder in the Maryland, DC or Virginia area and experience in a logistics management center, equipment depot or warehouse related to supporting a public safety or government mission.

Applicants must also understand the working of the National Incident Management System and the National Response Framework, demonstrate strong verbal communication skills and effective written communication skills.

The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems coordinates and oversees all aspects of the statewide EMS system. The emergency operations program of the MIEMSS provides support in the area of planning and coordination for health and medical preparedness for catastrophic events.
