DTRA extends proposal due date for CBRNE defense vendors

The U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency announced the extension on Tuesday of the proposal due date for entities interested in applying to be vendors for an industry day on defending against terrorist attacks.

The DTRA's request for proposals seeks vendors capable of supplying follow-on support services for the J3/7's Building Partnership Capacity Department, or the J3BP, during its industry day. The industry day will focus on counter CBRNE exercises, training, capability assessment and capacity development. In the most recent update, the DTRA extended the proposal due date to March 7.

The industry day was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Booz Allen Hamilton facility in Lorton, Va. A recent update to the RFP said the contract award would be planned for June.

According to the original statement of objectives for the RFP, the contractors must provide technical, logistical, operational and training subject matter expertise to aid the J3BP in developing, performing, executing and improving its counter CBRNE exercise, training, capability assessment and development efforts.

The J3BP is a force multiplier in countering weapons of mass destruction seeking to improve the collective capabilities and performance of the U.S. Department of Defense and its partners. The department is part of the DTRA.

The DTRA is the official combat support agency for countering WMDs under the U.S. DoD. Agency representatives are experts on chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high yield explosive threats.
