Thomas M. Sack named new president, CEO of MRIGlobal

Thomas M. Sack was named president and CEO of MRIGlobal by the company's board of directors on Thursday.

As president and CEO, Sack will oversee MRIGlobal's operations around the world as well as a $100 million contract research organization that specializes in national security, energy and global health.

In addition, Sack will be responsible for MRIGlobal's partnership with Alliance for Sustainable Energy LLC. The company has been contracted by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage more than $400 million in research at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colo.

Sack has held numerous positions at MRIGlobal and specializes in high-performance applications of mass spectrometry, the chemistry and detection of chemical warfare agents, methods for trace analysis and program management.

"Tom has the experience, knowledge, and passion to lead MRIGlobal into the future," MRIGlobal Chairman William Hall said. "Tom brings technical expertise, strong business acumen and personal leadership experience to this position. There is no one who better understands MRIGlobal's capabilities and potential."

Sack first joined MRIGlobal (previously called Midwest Research Institute) as a college intern. He rose to the rank of vice president and director of technical operation before he was appointed interim president and CEO in January.

"This institute has been an important part of my life for 30 years, and I am proud and honored to accept this responsibility," Sack said. "I look forward to working with everyone at MRIGlobal to fulfill our mission - to use science and technology to create a safer, healthier, more sustainable world."
