Brookhaven National Laboratory hires new deputy director for operations
Anderson, who held multiple high-level management positions at three national labs, will take over for Mike Bebon. Bebon will take on a new position at the laboratory after a decade as deputy director.
"Mike has served in key leadership roles at Brookhaven for more than three decades, and his strong commitment to Brookhaven and its mission-and his deep concern for the people who work here-are hallmarks of his service," Doon Gibbs, BNL's laboratory director, said. "I'm pleased for him and look forward to working with him in a new capacity."
Anderson is currently the interim director of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. He also held positions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, Florida Power and Light Company, Cincinnati Gas & Electric and General Dynamics.
"We are delighted that we have been able to attract someone of Jack's stature and experience to Brookhaven," Doon Gibbs, BNL's laboratory director, said. "I know that he is as excited as we are about the outstanding scientific opportunities ahead of us."
The Long Island, N.Y.-based Brookhaven National Laboratory is a multipurpose research institution for studies in biology, medicine, chemistry, applied science and advanced technology. BNL's Nonproliferation and National Security Department supports systems related to nuclear materials safeguards and security, arms control treaty verification and nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
