NATO condemns North Korea's weapon programs and rhetoric
North Korea has issued a series of threats for the past few months. Their threats involved warning of a nuclear attack on U.S. soil and all out war on their neighbor, South Korea. This is a trend which has been seen in the past.
"North Korea's provocative actions are in direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions and seriously undermine regional stability, jeopardize the prospects for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and threaten international peace and security," NATO foreign ministers said. "We welcome the UN Security Council's unanimous adoption of Resolution 2094 in response to the DPRK's February 12 nuclear test."
North Korea's most recent actions involved moving ballistic missiles to coastal regions, which has been presumed to be in preparation for a launch. It also shut down a factory that was managed and worked by both North and South Korea.
"We confirm our commitment to lasting peace and the goal of the verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in a peaceful manner," NATO foreign ministers said. "We urge the DPRK to refrain from further provocative acts."
