Bahrain committee on chemical weapons meets
The committee held its 17th meeting at the General Court of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry's undersecretary, Ambassador Abdullah Abdul-Latif Abdullah, presided as chairman, according to BNA.bh.
During the meeting, the committee accepted an annual report on the results of its members' participation in international and national conferences and workshops. It also decided on what programs and activities its members will participate in over the coming months.
The committee discussed the outcome of a series of committee visits to the General Directorate of Civil Defense, as well as its relationship with other committees, BNA.bh reports.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is an island country located in the western portion of the Persian Gulf. The country is an archipelago of 33 islands. The largest island, Bahrain Island, is connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd causeway.
The oil-rich state is ruled by the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa. He was previously the country's emir and became king in 2002. Bahrain has been ruled by the al-Khalifa dynasty since 1783.
