Defense Strategies Institute to hold CBRN symposium in March
Civilian and military policy-makers are invited to DSI's Joint Civil & DOD CBRN Symposium, which will be held in Alexandria, Virginia. The meeting will focus on how to maintain CBRN training and readiness in the currently shifting budget climate.
"You can expect to hear from OSD (Office of the Secretary of Defense) and policy makers, homeland security leadership and local counterparts on, from establishing medical countermeasures to Research, Development, Test and Evaluation of CBRN technologies and the latest on national Biosurveillance initiatives," Luis Hernandez, the symposium's director, said. "The symposium will provide valuable information on efforts to build partnerships for the integration of technology and provide all stakeholders with points of contact for integration of systems of systems capabilities for the CBRN defense community."
Because new technology in defense equipment is critical to recovery from a CBRN event, the symposium will also include a discussion of the role commercial industries play in developing response plans.
Representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense, the Biomedical Advanced Research Projects Authority, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. National Guard are scheduled to speak at the event.
