Argon Electronics to supply Canada with chemical warfare simulators
Argon's Canadian representatives, Patlon Aircraft & Industries, will provide support and initial training for the products. The simulators will give Canadian forces the ability to learn new procedures for detecting toxic industrial chemicals and chemical warfare agents, Defense News reports.
"Argon and Patlon Aircraft Industries have worked extremely hard together to secure this important contract, which will be delivered over the next 18 months," Steven Pike, Argon's managing director, said, according to Defense News.
Argon will provide Canada with its flagship PlumeSIM training systems, the Proengin AP4C detector, the S4PE surface sampler and simulators for the LCD-Nexus fixed-site detector and the Smiths Detection LCD3.3 personal detector.
The simulation systems will be deployed throughout Canada including the Ontario-based Canadian Forces Base Borden's Fire and Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear Academy.
The order is part of Canada's $85 million Chemical Agent Sensors Program. The program is meant to give Canada's armed forces more sophisticated chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear detectors and sensors, decontamination systems, protective equipment, reconnaissance systems and medical countermeasures. The project will allow Canada's military to detect chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals, Defense News reports.
