Video shows alleged victims of Syrian chemical weapons
In the video, four wounded individuals are in a hospital. One man sits in a chair and one woman sits on a gurney. Two young men, possibly teenagers, are also in the room, laying down on gurneys. All of the wounded have faces that appear to be disfigured. Bandages on their hands and feet are also visible, according to TheBlaze.com.
The authenticity of the video has not been verified, but the story has been reported on by two Israeli news sites.
If confirmed to be authentic, the ramifications of such video could change the nature of the Syrian conflict. The Syrian government has repeatedly claimed it would not use chemical weapons against its own people. Western governments, including the United States and Great Britain, have vowed dire consequences if such weapons are used.
Syrian foreign ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi suggested that opposition fighters might have a plan to use chemical weapons to frame the government.
"Terrorist groups may resort to using chemical weapons against the Syrian people... after having gained control of a toxic chlorine factory," Makdissi said, TheBlaze.com reports.
British Foreign Secretary William Hague recently said he is concerned about growing evidence that the Syrian regime is making preparations to deploy chemical weapons. He said military intervention has not been ruled out.
