Human Technologies Corporation receives $2.6 million contact from DLA

The Human Technologies Corporation announced on Tuesday that it will receive a $2.6 million contact from the Defense Logistics Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense to manufacture covers for chemical protection helmets.

The program will create between six and eight new production and sewing positions for the Southern Tier and Central New York-based company. Production is expected to begin in December, the Mohawk Valley Business Journal reports.

HTC manufactures chemical helmet covers, coveralls, canister carriers, head harnesses and other apparel and accessory products for DLA Troop Support, a provider of food, textiles, clothing and necessary equipment to the United States armed services. HTC's division for logistics and manufacturing manufactures and distributes more than one million items a year.

HTC is a non-profit enterprise with more than 500 employees with disabilities employed in kitting, packaging, manufacturing, distributing, warehousing and property management positions, the Mohawk Valley Business Journal reports.

The Defense Logistics Agency is a major logistics combat support agency existing under the Department of Defense that provides worldwide logistics support during wartime and peacetime to military services. The DLA also provides support to foreign countries and multiple civilian agencies. The DLA employs approximately 27,000 employees and is headquartered at Fort Belvoir in Northern Virginia.
