Response Biomedical hires new marketing VP
Response Biomedical, the developers of the RAMP bioagent detection system, announced that Tim Shannon has joined the company after 25 years of experience working in the field of medical devices and services, according to StockHouse.com.
The company's new chief executive officer, Jeffrey Purvin, welcomed Shannon. Purvin replaced Peter Thomson as interim CEO in July.
"We are delighted that Tim has agreed to join us in this new position," Purvin said, StockHouse.com reports. "Tim's background and experience is perfectly suited to help drive the sales and marketing strategies at Response."
Most recently, Shannon worked at Teleflex, Inc., where he managed a $225 million vascular access portfolio and led a team of more than 100 employees. He was directly responsible for developing the strategic initiatives that led directly to a 14 percent year over year growth performance for his division in the first quarter of fiscal year 2012.
The company's flagship bioagent detection system, RAMP, is capable of detecting anthrax, smallpox, ricin and botulinum toxin in its surrounding environment. The system is entirely portable and uses disposable test cartridges.
