NYCOEM seeks emergency support coordinator

The New York City Office of Emergency Management (NYCOEM) is hiring an emergency support coordinator.

This position is supported by a grant that will last until Aug. 31, 2016 with a potential extension.

Candidates should have experience with warehouse management and operations, emergency management, transportation, logistics and/or a related field of work.

This position is responsible for the preparation, deployment and organization of emergency equipment and supplies. The person is also expected to work with state, federal, local and non-governmental agencies and their representatives. Among other duties, this position will be asked to assist in management activity of the Emergency Support Center, provide technical expertise to emergency management officials, and be able to solve logistics-based problems that may come up during emergency or disaster situations.

Education and work experience are required. Those with a master's degree in emergency management, public or business administration, economics, urban planning, or related fields should have one year of full-time work experience in emergency management or services or related field. Those with bachelor's degrees should have two years in related fields. Those without higher education should have six years of experience in fields relevant to this position.

Preference will be given to applicants showing evidence of warehouse experience, engine mechanics, management of multiple projects, experience with vendors or a commercial driver's license among other criteria.
