The Las Vegas Valley Water District announced recently it is seeking an emergency management coordinator for its Las Vegas office.
This position is responsible for the development, implementation and coordination of emergency and disaster response and management programs that can be used by the entire organization and the Southwestern Nevada Water Authority. The selected candidate would meet with management from both organizations in developing the planning of response procedures and update the procedure as necessary.
The emergency management coordinator will manage budgetary items within the department and may be called on to present information and participate in other public outreach activities. The coordinator should also expect to conduct research and draft policy measures on emergency management procedures.
Minimum qualifications for this position include knowledge of the principles, procedures and operational practices in emergency preparedness. Candidates should provide evidence of success in the areas of interagency cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Red Cross, the Department of Homeland Security and agencies and organizations at the state and local level.
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in business administration, emergency management, operations management or equivalent and have at least five years' experience with evidence of progressive leadership positions in disaster or emergency preparedness. Additional requirements are a Nevada driver's license and proof of insurability in accordance with state law.
