Lutheran World Relief is looking for an emergency program manager for the Latin America region.
The nonprofit organization looks to fight poverty and help those in need around the world. The position's responsibilities include promoting and supporting operational preparedness at both a country and regional level. Deploying to emergencies can be required within 72 hours, and the successful candidate would lead the emergency response in that region.
Other responsibilities include developing fundraising strategies such as donor relations, proposal writing and project design. Recruiting and training emergency response staff will also be a key role in the position.
The successful candidate will be the main point of contact for donors in the region, and should be up to date on any issues or changes in the humanitarian system in the region.
Applicants should have a commitment to the core values of Lutheran World Relief. A master's degree in humanitarian action, emergency management, international development, disaster response or a relevant social science field is preferred. A bachelor's degree along with work experience would be considered.
Applicants should also have seven or more years of emergency management experience, or related experience in humanitarian action or disaster response. Experience in recruiting and managing intercultural staff is preferred.
