Elizabeth Pressnell, vice president of governmental relations at Smiths Detection, was recently re-elected as the chairwoman of the Security Manufacturers Coalition (SMC).
Smiths Detection says Pressnell's re-election signifies and solidifies the company's commitment to the SMC mission of addressing the issues that the security technology industry faces, and partnering with governments to clarify and define regulations to better serve research and development of new products.
The SMC is made up of nine U.S. companies that specialize in screening technology and equipment manufacturers that supply both private industry and public organizations on a global scale. Its members work closely with Congress and the president's administration on critical homeland security issues.Pressnell has led the SMC since its creation in 2013.
"[Pressnell's] strong background in security technology and public policy has helped the coalition speak as the united voice of the industry on critical issues, to regulators and legislators in the U.S. and globally," Smiths Detection President Terry Gibson said. "[Her] continued advocacy to improve the business of security has helped establish her as a leader for the SMC.”
Pressnell joined Smiths Detection in 2011 after more that 20 in government relations specializing in appropriations, authorization processes and issues involving regulation.
