Smiths Detection recently installed chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) detection devices at an economic support zone around the new Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai.
As part of a contract with the Emirates Group Security, Smiths Detection supplied eight X-ray scanners that can accommodate over-sized luggage and freight containers at the airport's Dubai World Central.
The cargo scanners are monitored through a central system with operators designated to each machine in an isolated control room where they can operate with fewer distractions. This approach complements the layered security measures taken at Emirates Group Security.
“We are committed to support Dubai’s vision of becoming a global aviation hub by developing next generation security systems that ensure the security of the country’s borders," Paul Baker, managing director for the Middle East Division of Smiths Detection, said. "This latest contract from Emirates SkyCargo underlines both the quality of our advanced scanners and our capacity to meet specific customer needs.”
Smiths Detection specializes in security and detection technology, providing civil and military markets with its technology developments that comply with government regulations on a global scale.
