The American Red Cross is hiring a disaster program manager for its office in northern Vermont.
The manager will be responsible for the implementation of disaster services in the area, and will lead volunteer teams assigned to the area of program implementation regarding preparedness, response and recovery. The manager also will ensure that volunteers are trained in specific areas to meet the needs of the region or division.
Qualified applicants should hold a bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience with at least three years' working in a social services setting or with program delivery. Candidates also should have experience in leading a department, program or service; have at least one year of managerial experience; and posses the ability to recognize program trends, coordinate staff and volunteer activities, and manage multiple areas of priority with strategic planning and problem-solving.
Candidates also should demonstrate strong communication skills in written and verbal forms, along with the ability to create presentations and training modules and strategies that will help the branch reach organizational goals. The candidate also should be analytical, and have the ability to make decisive actions that improve the creation and improvement processes of the program.
