Nancy Dragani, director of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, recently received the 2014 Lacy E. Suiter Distinguished Service in Emergency Management Award.
Presented by the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA), the award recognizes emergency management workers who spend their careers helping people and communities stay safe in the face of numerous emergencies, including natural disasters or acts of terror.
Dragani has been the director of Ohio's Emergency Management Agency since 2005. She has handled numerous disasters and led the state to accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) in 2008 and 2013.
She served more than 22 years in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard and the Air National Guard, and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree from the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Security.
“Nancy is one of the most knowledgeable and respected emergency management professionals in the nation, and is most deserving of this award,” NEMA President Charley English said during an awards ceremony on Oct. 11.
