Leidos, a company specializing in national security, health and engineering solutions, recently received the GovConnects Government Contractor of the Year award from the Harris County Chamber of Commerce.
The honor was given for the company's leadership in connecting small and mid-sized businesses with cloud computing, health information technology, cyber and big data as part of the Chamber's GovConnects initiative.
"Leidos is honored to receive recognition for our continued commitment to work with the regional business community through GovConnects, helping to connect the local government contracting community to enhanced growth opportunities, education and resources," Leidos Group President Sam Gordy said.
GovConnects is a not-for-profit industry initiative that seeks to connect government contractors with government opportunities, specifically in the areas of defense and intelligence. Leidos provided high-level speakers for events like the government contracting continuing education program.
Leidos also sponsors the annual Cybersecurity Conference, participates in exclusive networking events and offers individualized interaction with representatives from local small and mid-sized businesses looking for guidance and partnership opportunities. Leidos collaborates with the GovConnects cyber committee as an active member and thought leader.
The award was one of five Awards of Chamber Excellence given out at the Chamber's Signature Event on Friday in Ellicott City, Md.
