For the duration of his contract, the 33-year-old wrote on Twitter on Tuesday that his only goal is to sweat in the club’s shirt. “I categorically repeat; I will not end my career at a team other than Fenerbahce,” said the former German footballer.
Ozil joined Fenerbahce from Arsenal last year. “I achieved my professional goal by signing a 3.5-year contract with Fenerbahce, my childhood sweetheart, without being paid for the first six months,” Ozil explained.
His contract with the top Turkish club, who qualified for the Champions League in second place in the tournament behind Trabzonspor, runs until June 30, 2024. However, there was also speculation that the attacking player might seek a move to the United States.

Ozil was left out of the squad in March after disputes with coach Ismail Kartal spread. A few days later, his advisor Erkut Sogut confirmed that the 33-year-old wanted to stay with the Turkish club. “He wants to do his bit.
