When the skin is itchy, people tend to scratch it. This can increase itching. So it is better to avoid some triggers.

Persistent and persistent itching can have different causes depending on the part of the body. Chronic itching, called pruritus, occurs mainly in the evening and at night and can be a consequence of various diseases. Doctors talk about chronic itching when the skin feels tight, burns, or itches for more than six weeks. Various home remedies such as apple cider vinegar can provide relief. There are also some things sufferers should avoid.

Scientists have discovered that some itching is caused by the fact that neurons in sufferers are much more branched than those in healthy people. This results in more and more branches, as neurons are constantly fed by inflammatory cells and messengers. Signals are constantly being sent through these pathways and the skin is always on alert. This finally manifests itself in constant itching.

The skin can itch all over the body or in certain parts of the body if certain nerve fibers are stimulated by the messenger substances histamine and serotonin or if toxins, mechanical stimuli, or temperature fluctuations trigger the release of histamine. In addition to apple cider vinegar, yogurt can also help get rid of persistent itching. At the same time, if there is no disease behind the suffering, the sufferers can find relief for themselves by better avoiding the following things:

  • Dry room climate
  • Frequent showering
  • long bath
  • sauna sessions
  • Cosmetics containing alcohol
  • Tension and excitement
  • alcohol consumption
  • very spicy food
  • Very tight cotton clothes

Itching: various diseases can be the cause

Itching can have a variety of causes including inflammation, medications, allergies, diabetes, tumors, herniated disc, parasites, and neurological disorders. But liver, biliary (itching) or kidney disease can also lead to persistent itching. Since the cause of itching on the skin is often found elsewhere in the body and itching leads to a high level of suffering in sufferers, a possible cause for the itching must be clarified by a physician.
