In the German’s complete victory at the European two-man bobsleigh championships in St. Moritz, only a Swiss women’s duo can impress.

On the second day of the European bobsleigh championships in St Moritz, which was also considered the last World Cup race of the season, the Swiss missed an opportunity. Martina Fontanev / Irina Strebel took sixth, Melanie Hasler / Nadia Pasternak had no chance.

Fontanive/Strebel showed two confident runs, but missed out on a better position due to minor mistakes. That was enough to get him sixth in the European Championship rankings and tenth in the World Cup rankings.

The second Swiss duo with Hasler/Pasternack got off to a good start on both stages, but a blunder on the track robbed him of plenty of time twice at nearly the same spot. In the end, the first result was 2.78 seconds (10 in the European Championship, 17 in the World Cup classification). The Argau Hasler pilot is not 100 percent physically after a muscle injury.

At the top, three German duos climbed on the three World Cup podiums, and thus all European Championship medals. Kim Kaleki/Lisa Bakowitz were crowned European champions, Mariama Gamanca/Kira Lieberheide won the silver, and Laura Nolte/Deborah Levy won the bronze.

At the same time, the American Ilana Myers-Taylor won the World Cup as a whole, and fifth place in the last race of the World Cup was enough for victory.
