Coach Stefan Kontz made the best start to the Nations League with the Turkey national football team. The 59-year-old former professional’s team beat the Faroe Islands 4-0 (1-0).
Cengiz Onder (37th minute), Khalil Dervisoglu (47), Serdar Dorsun (82) and Merih Demiral (85) scored the hosts’ goals at the famous Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul. In League C, the Turks, who failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar later this year, still face Luxembourg and Lithuania in Group A. (dpa)
