Brazil: Dengue and Chikungunya cases in Paran

Dengue and chikungunya cases

dengue fever

The new epidemiological bulletin of the Ministry of Health (SESA) reports 6,889 new cases of dengue fever and six deaths compared to the previous week’s report. So far, Baran has recorded a total of 35,433 confirmed cases of dengue fever and 21 deaths.

Of the six recorded deaths, five occurred in the Londrina region and one in the Foz do Iguao region.

The Minister of State for Health, Beto Brito, emphasized that the whole population should be involved in the fight against dengue. About 80% of Aedes aegypti mosquito infestations occur in backyards and indoors – and for this reason, community involvement in eradicating these breeding areas is so important.

chikungunya

Regarding chikungunya, the state has reported 283 confirmed cases. This is 52 (22.5%) more than in the previous report. Most of the confirmations (64%) are authentic, of which 175 (96%) are from the patients of the Macro-Oeste region and 131 (74.8%) are from the municipality of Foz do Iguao.
