Military Infectious Diseases Research Program calls for award applications

Military Infectious Diseases Research Program calls for award applications.
The Joint Program Committee-2/Military Infectious Diseases Research Program (JPC-2/MIDA) is accepting applications for potential contract awards for the development of testing and detection devices.

This announcement indicates that projects associated with multi-pathogen detection for multi-drug-resistant organisms (MDRO) and other forms of pathogens, assay development for immune response biomarkers and preclinical testing for chemotypes and other therapeutic types are currently sought. Preference will be given to projects that address infections relating to MDROs and those focused on treatments and prevention methods against wound-related infections.

The program anticipates that it will have approximately $20.5 million available to fund an anticipated 10 projects in the aforementioned focus areas. Awards will only be granted to projects that are in the clinical trial stage. Awarded funds may not be granted to pre-clinical or other early-stage research.

Those wishing to apply must submit a pre-application to the electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP) by 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25. Selected pre-applications will warrant an invitation to provide a full application for awarding consideration. The final application would have to be submitted by 5 p.m. Monday, May 9.
