Federal Terror Alert System information now available through IDHS channels

Federal Terror Alert System information now available through IDHS channels.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) announced this week that Federal Terror Alert System information is available through the IDHS website and its social media accounts.

The information will come from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in addition to locally specific information from the IDHS. This will consist of alerts, in case there is a credible threat or ongoing threat that develops, and bulletins that will describe general developments and trends that are applicable to the general public.

The IDHS encourages the awareness of updates to the National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) and notes that the federal system information is also available at DHS’ website alongside information about what people should do in case an alert is issued.

The addition of bulletins is a new development related to the NTAS that was announced by DHS on Wednesday. Bulletins serve a gap-bridging purpose in order to provide information on situations that do not warrant a full alert being sent out. This initiative also aims to allow the facilitation of flexibility of communication between DHS and members of the public.

IDHS reminds Indiana citizens of its “Ready: Whenever. Wherever.” campaign in order to spread awareness of what actions to take in case of a violent situation or an attack.
